During a press conference, police said there are some similarities between this incident and the hoax active shooter call at Brainerd High School in 2023.
The lockdown at Chatt State was lifted after 1:00 p.m. ET on Thursday. Classes were canceled, and the college was closed for the rest of the day.
Chattanooga Police received multiple calls about a potential gunman on the campus at Chattanooga State Community College located at 4501 Amnicola Highway. The caller demanded payment and threatened to harm students if payment wasn’t received.
The release says that while several law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, no officer had located a credible threat.
All buildings on campus were cleared, and police are confident there is no current danger on campus.
