Marion County Deputy Recognized for His Help with Injured Paraglider

On Monday, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department recognized Deputy Rusty Parker for his incredible bravery, dedication, and selflessness!

Recently, Deputy Parker responded to a situation on Mt Olive Rd where three paragliders had landed off the bluff. One of them sustained significant injuries and required immediate medical assistance.

Without hesitation, Deputy Parker set up his climbing gear and lowered himself to reach the injured paraglider. He coordinated with Marion County Rescue to lower a stokes basket, ensuring the patient was safely transported to the ambulance. Thanks to Parker’s swift actions, the injured individual was flown to the hospital for treatment.
