Grundy County Armored Robbery Suspect in Custody

Charles James Campbell

On September 18, 2024, Charles James Campbell was taken into custody. During a brief struggle with deputies, Campbell pulled a firearm from his pocket. Deputies were able to grab the gun and pry it out of Campbell’s hand.

The Armed Robbery took place at the Town Market BP in Gruetli-Laager.
Charles James Campbell was booked into the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office on numerous charges, the most serious being Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Kidnapping, Theft of a Motor vehicle, and Aggravated Assault against a police officer. The 12th Judicial District Attorney’s office has requested a bond hearing before Campbell has a set bond. This is still an ongoing investigation.
