The Bryant, Alabama Fire Department is begging their community not to burn anything at all outside after “acres and acres” were burned down.
In the past 72 hours, they have fought two major brush fires.
On Sunday, the fire department says more than 20 firefighters and Alabama forestry fought a blaze for nearly ten hours because “someone decided they needed to burn something outside during one of the worst droughts in years.”
A Bryant resident suspected of the fire faces a $20,000 fine or 10 years in prison.
On Monday, another six-acre brush fire broke out in another area in Bryant.
The fire department is asking everyone to STOP BURNING ANYTHING OUTSIDE! If you see your neighbor doing anything unwise, stop them. More acres burned, and more homes were put at risk.
Thankfully, firefighters could get there quickly, and no structures were damaged.
