Former Dunlap Police Chief Passes

The City of Dunlap has announced its deepest condolences to Donnie Custer’s family and friends. Donnie served the Dunlap Police Department for 20 years, including several years as the Chief of Police and 10 years as an elected constable. He retired from the Army. Flags at municipal buildings have been placed at half-staff in his honor and memory.

Sequatchie County Sheriff Bill Phillips and his staff also conveyed their sympathy to Custer’s family and friends.

Donnie’s service with the Army and National Guard included service in Korea, Germany and Desert Storm. He received an Army Commendation medal with V device for valor, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with three bronze stars and a Kuwait Liberation Medal for Desert Storm.
