On October 27th, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office responded to an area on Highway 50 in Altamont after receiving a 911 call by an individual by the name of Josh Webb who stated he was kidnapped in Memphis, placed into a black car inside the trunk and was able to escape in Grundy County. Deputies arrived in the area and located a black car stuck in a wooded area and the vehicle was still in reverse.

After deputies processed the scene, a rescue team was deployed. Clothing was found on a trail from the car leading into the woods.

Shortly after the search began, a black Tahoe was stolen with a loaded firearm inside. It was believed that Webb had stolen the Tahoe. The Tahoe was recovered a few days later.

Earlier this week, Webb allegedly stole a vehicle from the Monteagle area that was located in Cordell, GA. Then a vehicle was recovered on Wednesday in Grundy County from Cordell, GA. Webb then stole another vehicle from Grundy County.

Wednesday night, Webb was taken into custody in Paducah Kentucky after running from police in the stolen vehicle from Grundy County. Webb was still in possession of the firearm taken from the Tahoe. Webb will be facing multiple charges in Kentucky, Tennessee and possibly Georgia.
