It’s National Crash Responders Safety Week

Photos of a recent crash in Memphis. Someone didn’t Move Over

In honor of National Crash Responders Safety Week, Tennessee leaders remind motorists about the ‘Move Over Law.’

Please stay alert for law enforcement and first responders working crashes in and along the roadway. Please slow down and move over. State employees’ safety depends on you.113 Tennessee Highway Patrol and TDOT employees have been killed in the line of duty.

What should a driver do if a vehicle is stopped on the side of the road? If the next lane is clear, the driver shall merge into that lane. If the driver cannot merge into the next lane, the driver should slow down to safely pass the stopped vehicle. Your choice makes all the difference.
