A Whitwell man, identified as 45-year-old Eric Corliss, has been arrested following two indictments on child abuse and neglect charges issued by a Hamilton County grand jury.
Details of the Indictments
The first indictment, dated May 2024, charges Corliss with one count of aggravated child abuse. According to the indictment, he is accused of “inflicting serious bodily injury” to a child aged 8 years or younger in January 2023.
The second indictment, issued in October 2024, includes one count each of aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect. This indictment alleges that Corliss again “inflicted serious bodily injury” to a child of the same age during the same time frame and also accuses him of neglecting the health and welfare of the child.
Legal Proceedings
Corliss was booked into the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center on December 2. He is scheduled to appear in court for the first indictment on December 17, followed by a court appearance for the second indictment on December 18.
