Chattanooga Incline Closed after Fire

Officials announced on Sunday evening that the large brush fire on Lookout Mtn. was 100% contained.

On Saturday afternoon, flames reached the Incline Railway. As a precaution, several businesses and 20 homes were evacuated near the lower incline.

The Incline Railway is temporarily closed for repairs. Tickets are valid for one year from the date of purchase. For more information, contact tickets@seerockcity.com.

According to CARTA, the site remains an active emergency scene and is under the management of first responders.

Although the fire damaged the Incline’s cable system and rails, both incline vehicles, the lower station in St. Elmo and the upper station on Lookout Mountain are secure and undamaged.
