Tickets for Marion County 4-H Performing Arts upcoming presentation of the classic musical, Hello, Dolly!, officially went on sale online Wednesday.
Three performances are scheduled, beginning Friday, March 14th, 2025 at 7:00PM. A matinee performance will take place on Saturday, March 15th, 2025 at 1:00PM, followed by the final performance later that same day at 7:00PM.
To add to the excitement for this year, the production will take place at the new, state-of-the-art Jasper Middle School Auditorium, which will give many in the community a first chance to see the new facility and a first “major production” to be produced on the stage at there.
The production, presented by Tower Community Bank and directed by Wesley Brewer, will feature on stage performances from area students from around the county as they perform the classic 1964 musical, bringing a slice of Broadway right to the stage in the Sequatchie Valley.
This will mark the fourth performance by the local 4-H Performing Arts group. Last year’s production of Annie Get Your Gun and previous productions received rave reviews and tickets always sell-out fast.
Hello, Dolly! premiered on Broadway on January 16, 1964, at the St. James Theatre. Opening with Carol Channing in the title role, the show ultimately played for 2,844 performances, making it – at the time – the longest-running Broadway musical in history. The West End production ran for 794 performances at London’s Drury Lane Theatre. The musical has been revived several times on Broadway, most recently in 2017, starring Bette Midler as Dolly Levi.
This musical adaptation of Thornton Wilder’s hit play The Matchmaker bursts with humor, romance, energetic dance, and some of the greatest songs in musical theatre history. The romantic and comic exploits of Dolly Gallagher Levi, turn-of-the-century matchmaker and “woman who arranges things,” are certain to thrill and entertain audiences again and again.
