Tennessee Ranks 4th in Home Fire Deaths

A group of Florida-based injury lawyers analyzed data from the U.S. Fire Administration to determine which states had the highest number of deaths and injuries per 1,000 residential fires.

Alaska came in at No. 1 because it saw 25.5 deaths and 64.4 injuries. North Dakota was ranked second, followed by Wyoming at No. 3. Based on the data, Tennessee ranked fourth, with 13.5 deaths for every 1,000 residential fires. Cooking fires are the leading cause of house fires in the Volunteer State.
