Federal Judge Temporarily Blocks “Protect Tennessee Minors Act” Over First Amendment Concerns
A Tennessee judge has blocked a new law that would have imposed age verification for websites with adult content, citing First Amendment concerns.
The law, set to take effect on Wednesday was aimed to impose age restrictions on social media platforms like TikTok.
In the ruling, the judge said, “In its attempt to protect children, the State will unavoidably suppress a large amount of speech that adults have a First Amendment right to give and receive.”
