Family Settles Legal Issue after Rodents Located at Distribution Center

A settlement was reached Tuesday after an investigation revealed that Family Dollar Stores in Tennessee were selling customers goods stored in a rodent-infested distribution center.

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti says. “No matter the family budget, whether at a discount shop or not, every Tennessean deserves confidence in the food they buy. This settlement holds Family Dollar accountable and protects Tennessee families from being sold harmful or mislabeled food.”

In 2022, FDA-regulated products were voluntarily recalled from the rodent-infested West Memphis, Arkansas Distribution Center. In 2024, Family Dollar pleaded guilty to selling these unsanitary products.

Family Dollar Stores will pay Tennessee $1.125 million as a part of this settlement.
