Worker Injured at Lookout Mountain Incline

The Chattanooga Fire Department says crews rescued a worker who fell while repairing the Incline Railway in Lookout Mountain on Wednesday.

Red Shift companies responded to different points on the incline and learned that the worker was injured in the fall.

Chattanooga firefighters and rope technicians lifted the patient vertically 60 feet using a rope system.

CFD says they then had to get him over the tracks and into a cart on a pulley system.

The cart allowed crews to get the worker up the incline where paramedics were waiting.

The historic Incline Railway suffered serious damage last December after a rockslide-induced fire damaged the tracks and cable system.

Crews have been working on extensive repairs since then. CARTA officials are hoping to reopen by June.

CFD says the worker was transported to the hospital by Hamilton County EMS to evaluate his injuries further.
