Incline to Reopen in June

A date has been set for the potential reopening of the Incline Railway after a December wildfire on Lookout Mountain led to its closure.

According to the Incline Railway’s website, the 129-year-old historic site’s target reopening date is June 2, 2025, provided that repairs proceed without delays or complications.

National Park Service (NPS) investigators have determined that the fire was caused by a series of natural events and found no evidence of human involvement in the area where the fire began.

NPS investigators reported that the fire started when large rocks or boulders thawed on Lookout Mountain, resulting in a rockslide that generated significant friction.
