Fire Burns Several Acres in Prentice Cooper State Forest on Wednesday

At 7:18 a.m. Wednesday, Mullins Cove Volunteer Fire Department responded to a brush fire near Grandview Church of God. The fire was located halfway up the mountain in Prentice Cooper State Forest. TN Forestry arrived on the scene, took command, and released MCVFD from the area.

According to the state forest fire map, the fire burned 30 acres and was 50% contained as of Wednesday afternoon.

In light of the weather conditions, TN Forestry suspended all burn permits for Marion County through Friday.
