The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has received reports about multiple scams, and unfortunately, they can’t keep up with all of them.
If you receive a text message or email asking you to click on a link, DO NOT do it! If you receive a phone call from a number you don’t recognize, DO NOT ANSWER! Remember, no legitimate business will cold call you to ask for personal information.
Never share personal details unless you’ve reached out to a business first, and they need to verify your identity. A major red flag is if someone asks you to buy gift cards—this is a HUGE sign of a scam!
