Local Firefighters Receive Special Training

On Saturday, nearly 20 firefighters from the Jasper Highlands Fire Department, Haletown Fire and Rescue, and Signal Mountain Fire Department completed the final day of training for the 32-hour Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads (TARS) course, which focused on safely removing injured people trapped in wrecked vehicles. The firemen received extensive hands-on practice using the tools, tips, and techniques necessary to accomplish these rescues safely and efficiently.

The course was taught by J.P. Durham, Butch Brown, and Todd Smith from the Kimball Fire Department.
