Areas that felt the earthquake on Saturday

A 4.1-magnitude earthquake occurred near Greenback, Loudon County, in East Tennessee this morning at 8:04 a.m.

Residents in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Georgia, and the Carolinas felt the tremor, as did residents in the Sequatchie Valley. Initially recorded as 3.5 magnitude, the US Geological Survey upgraded it to 4.1. No injuries or significant damage were reported. Over 23,000 people submitted felt reports within the first hour. The USGS warned of a 23% chance of aftershocks this week.

On Sunday, a rare 2.8-magnitude quake was recorded near High Bridge, Kentucky.
