Truck Driver Charged after Deadly Crash on Sunday

East Ridge Police Chief Clint Uselton has reported that a truck driver is currently in custody following a failure to decelerate, leading to a fatal collision on Interstate 75 near the I-24 split on Sunday.

According to police statements, the incident resulted in the deaths of two adults, while three individuals are in intensive care, and two others have been treated and released for minor injuries.

The crash involved six passenger vehicles and one tractor-trailer, with two cars igniting in flames.

Joseph Antoinier, the Amazon truck driver involved, faces multiple charges:

  • Two counts of reckless homicide
  • Seven counts of felony reckless endangerment
  • Three counts of reckless aggravated assault

The East Ridge Police Department continues to conduct an ongoing investigation into this tragic event.
