The Judge David Campbell Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has named Emily Landry, a senior at Whitwell High School, as the recipient of the DAR Good Citizens Scholarship Award. This prestigious honor is presented to a high school senior who exemplifies the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.
Emily has received awards in Physical Science, Algebra I, Spanish I and II, as well as a Certificate of Excellence for her participation in the school band. She placed third in SVEC’s 2025 creative writing competition and scored a 32 on the ACT. Emily has volunteered at the Marion Animal Resource Connection and plans to major in linguistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, writing, and crocheting.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a women’s service organization whose members can trace their lineage to an individual who contributed to securing American independence during the Revolutionary War. Today’s DAR is a dynamic and diverse organization, with over 185,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the United States and abroad. DAR members annually provide millions of hours of volunteer service to their local communities across the country and the world. DAR chapters participate in projects to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Over one million members have joined the organization since its founding in 1890.
