The Grundy County School Board held a special meeting on Monday to review two items in the proposed 2026 budget. These items included a $70,000 maintenance director position, currently filled by the Director of Schools, Dr. Clint Durley, and a $20,000 supplement for the board’s Chief Financial Officer, Dr. Jennifer Webb.
A one-time $2,000 statewide bonus for teachers, linked to Governor Bill Lee’s school voucher bill, was not included on the agenda. Recently, the school board voted down the state-funded bonus. They are the only school district in the state to turn down the money.
The motion to exclude Webb’s $20,000 supplement from the budget did not pass. Board members decided to approve the hiring of a new maintenance director.
