State Agency Says Tennessee to Build New Crime Lab in Chattanooga

The Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations is recommending that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) build a crime lab in Chattanooga.

This is part of a draft report addressing the shortage of forensic services across Tennessee.

Currently, local police must ship evidence to labs in Nashville and Knoxville.

However, the state is struggling to keep up with demand.

The report suggests that they need more lab space.

Building new labs in each of the three divisions of Tennessee appears to be their solution.
