Nearly 300 Animals Rescued from Hoarding Situation in Trenton

Dade County officials rescued more than 260 animals from a large hoarding situation in Trenton on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

The rescue started around noon and went into the early hours of Wednesday. Crews worked until 2 a.m. to remove animals from what authorities described as “deplorable conditions.” Unfortunately, several dead animals were also found inside the home.

Several rescuers said this was among the worst scenes they have ever seen.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Audray Luck, who runs the pet rescue Luck’s Rescue.

Before leaving the scene, officials say all living dogs were screened by on-site vets and passed an initial wellness check, but need grooming. Currently, they have 71 dogs ranging from 8 weeks to 14 years old. The breeds are Pomeranian, French bulldogs, and Chows. All dogs are available to RESCUE ONLY until they can get these animals cleared medically. If you would like to help, call 706-935-2454. They need help washing and grooming dogs and with these animals.
