Grundy County Sheriff Heath Gunter
Grundy County Sheriff Heath Gunter has reported that he is currently in compliance with the Tennessee POST Commission’s (Peace Officers Standards and Training) requirements. His certification was under review after it was found that uncertified deputies were working in schools, along with other issues.
The POST Commission and Gunter reached an agreement permitting him to retain his certification, provided he completed training, submitted weekly reports, and fulfilled additional conditions over six months.
On Friday, Gunter informed the commission that he had satisfied these requirements and that some of his deputies had also completed the necessary training. The commission determined that the agreement had been fulfilled.
