Daniel Victor McCarn
A court date has been scheduled for the Alabama individual accused of shooting and injuring a Scottsboro police officer in July. Daniel McCarn is charged with attempted murder in connection with the July 26 incident involving SPD Lieutenant Derek Porch. Following a vehicular pursuit that ended in a crash, McCarn allegedly discharged a firearm, resulting in an injury to Lt. Porch’s hand. Authorities conducted a daylong search before apprehending McCarn. He is set to appear in court on August 20.
The Scottsboro Police Department has set up a benefit for Lt. Derek Porch at Redstone Federal Credit Union. Any donations made to this account will be given to Lt. Porch to assist with covering any uncovered expenses incurred by him and his family at this time (i.e., food, gas, etc).
