Major Work This Week at I-75/I-24 Interchange

Drivers traveling near the I-75 and I-24 interchange are advised to anticipate changes in traffic patterns due to upcoming construction scheduled for next week.

This work is part of Phase 2 of the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s initiative to expand and enhance the heavily trafficked interchange. Construction crews will concentrate on upgrading I-24 East between Belvoir Avenue and I-75.

Today through Wednesday, August 13, TDOT contract teams will conduct nightly work from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

Key changes include:

  • Opening a new fourth lane on I-24 East from Belvoir Road to I-75
  • Opening a new entrance ramp from South Terrace to I-24 East west of Moore Road
  • Closing the existing entrance ramp from South Terrace east of Moore Road for several weeks. Detours will be posted
  • Opening a new fifth lane between McBrien Road and I-75
  • Reducing the I-24 East to I-75 North ramp from three lanes to two for continued work
  • All permanent traffic changes are expected to be in place by Wednesday morning, August 13, weather permitting

Once completed, these changes will help bring the I-75/I-24 interchange into its final alignment.

TDOT urges drivers to use caution in the area and remain alert to new traffic patterns.

Drivers are advised to consider alternate routes during construction hours.

Delays are expected, and drivers should follow all posted signage.
