Richard Keith Wilder of Whitwell, Tennessee, is facing charges after authorities discovered that he allegedly disposed of his deceased father’s remains in a fire pit.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department received a tip that Wilder had hidden and burned his father’s body at a location in Mullins Cove.

Detectives, with the help of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, located and recovered human remains at the reported location.
The remains were sent to the Medical Examiner’s office in Nashville for further examination. Sequatchie Valley Now checked with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and they say preliminary results are expected on Monday or Tuesday.
Currently, there is no information on how Wilder’s father died. Wilder was arrested on Thursday at his home on charges of abuse of a corpse and is scheduled to appear in court this week.
