The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted THC compliance checks in 13 retail stores, and they found five violating the law.
Sheriff Heath Gunter says his criminal investigations division was working to ensure businesses are following Tennessee state laws regarding the sale of THC and Delta-9 products.
“These checks were part of an ongoing effort to protect our community and ensure that all products being sold are legal and properly regulated after multiple medical emergencies have occurred from using these products,” Gunter stated.
Investigators purchased random products and submitted them for testing. Some of those products labeled as containing 0.3% THC or less “did not accurately reflect their actual content.”
Five of the 13 stores- none named in a press release- were out of compliance with state regulations.
Each of the store owners is working with authorities to address these issues.
Sheriff Gunter says store owners have expressed their appreciation for being made aware of the inaccurate products and are committed to ensuring their shelves are stocked with items that meet legal standards.
