Recap of High School Football for Games Played on October 17

South Pittsburg maintained its dominance in small-school football with a 56-0 win over Sale Creek, earning its 29th straight Region 3-1A victory. The Pirates (7-1, 2-0) need one more region win for their seventh consecutive league title.

Previously unbeaten Sale Creek allowed just 58 points all season before South Pittsburg scored 49 by halftime, outgaining the Panthers 408-16 yards. JaMychal Buckner scored 3 TDs for the Pirates.

Strong defense has limited South Pittsburg opponents to 44 total points this season.

Bledsoe County 27, Grundy County 26: In a back-and-forth second half, the Warriors regained the lead for good on a touchdown pass from Luke Morris to Dallas Bridges, and in finishing off the win, the Warriors 6-2/2-1 took sole possession of second place in Region 3-2A.

Grundy County (7-2, 2-2), seeking its first eight-win season since 2002, has lost two straight games.

 

A well-balanced attack led Sequatchie County over Community to a 51-0 win on Friday.

It was another big night for Hunter Minton, who threw for 116 yards and three TDs on only nine passes and punched in one rushing score.

Sequatchie County’s defense picked off two passes courtesy of Elijah McDaniel and Kason Hicks.

Sequatchie County’s win bumped its record to 6-2. Community dropped to 0-9.
