Rope Rescue at Fall Creek Falls

Photos by Piney Fire Department

On Saturday, around 2:00 pm, the Piney Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Fall Creek Falls State Park for a medical emergency below the Cable Trail.

Park rangers found the patient about 1,000 feet down the creek, and Piney Fire personnel assisted with care.

Multiple agencies from surrounding counties, including Dunlap, Pikeville, Doyle, Signal Mountain Fire Departments, Waldens Ridge Emergency Service, State Rangers, Putnam County Rescue Squad, and Warren County EMS & Rescue, responded for additional support.

Due to extraction challenges and the patient’s condition, TN-HART brought a helicopter to airlift the patient after responders moved them to a rock in the creek. The patient was flown to a local airport, then transported by White County EMS to a hospital.
