Tennessee Comptroller Investigates Marion County County Family and Community Engagement Program

The Office of the Comptroller of the Treasury investigated irregularities in time reporting within the Marion County Family and Community Engagement Program after concerns were raised by school officials. The probe covered records from July 22, 2024, to May 31, 2025, and results were forwarded to the District Attorney General for review.

The federally funded program operates in Marion County School District, overseen by a supervisor who reviews coordinators’ timesheets and event documentation. Coordinators are responsible for planning events and recording hours on official timesheets.

Investigators found that the former coordinator at Jasper Middle School submitted falsified timesheets totaling at least 31.1 hours, including overlapping hours with another job and time reported during leave. As payment is distributed annually, discrepancies led MCS officials to withhold compensation. The coordinator, who was unnamed, admitted to reporting inaccurate hours to meet program requirements.
