The Tennessee Supreme Court has scheduled four executions in 2026. This would include Christa Pike. She was convicted of murder at age 18 in 1995 in East Tennessee. She was also convicted of attempted first-degree murder after she tried to kill another state inmate in 2001.

Currently Pike is suing the state to halt her execution, arguing Tennessee’s lethal injection protocol would constitute cruel and unusual punishment due to her rare blood cancer that affects how her blood clots.

Pike will be the first female to be executed in Tennessee since 1819.
