Former Owner of Whitwell Dary Bar Convicted on Sex Charges

A Kenai, Alaska, jury has convicted the former owner of the Whitwell Dairy Bar on charges of first‑degree sexual assault and second‑degree sexual abuse of a minor. Darold Greg Love, 66, was found guilty of forcibly assaulting his 16‑year‑old step‑granddaughter in November 2021, according to the Alaska Department of Law.

Prosecutors said the victim spent 25 years seeking justice, ultimately helping authorities track down Love and bring the case forward. With the conviction, Love faces a mandatory sentence of 35 to 45 years in prison and will not be eligible for parole. Sentencing is set for Friday, August 14.

Detective William Barker Jr. and officers with the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department assisted Alaska authorities in interviewing Love and taking him into custody.
