JASPER, Tenn. — Marion County 4-H is inviting area youth to take part in its upcoming ‘Aim Smart: Youth Shooting Sports and Hunter Education’ program this summer, offering hands-on instruction in firearm safety, responsible shooting practices, and outdoor ethics.
The three-day program will be held July 13-15 and is designed to help young participants develop confidence, responsibility, and safe firearm handling skills in a structured environment led by certified instructors and volunteers.
According to organizers, participants will receive instruction in several shooting sports disciplines, including BB gun, rifle, muzzleloader, and shotgun. Youth who complete the program will also earn their Hunter Safety Certification through the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
Classes will be held at two locations. Activities on July 13 and 14 will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Prentice Cooper Wildlife Management Area, while the final session on July 15 will be held from 8 a.m. until noon at the Marion County 4-H Office.
Lunch will be provided for participants on July 13 and 14.
The cost to attend is $75 per participant.
Program leaders say the course focuses on teaching safe and responsible firearm use while promoting outdoor stewardship and ethical hunting practices.
