More than 130 years ago, Erlanger was founded through an extraordinary gift that reflected a belief in our community and its potential, and today we are making another investment in our future. Today, from that position of strength, we are announcing that Erlanger has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to enter into a strategic partnership with Prisma Health, one of the Southeast’s leading nonprofit health systems.
This partnership brings $2 billion in investment to Erlanger, allowing us to fast track our strategic plan and strengthen the care for patients in ways this Chattanooga region has never seen. This enables us to address critical facilities needs, expand services and technology needed for patients and accelerate Erlanger’s strategic growth strategy much more rapidly than we could ever do alone.
This decision follows a thoughtful, extensive evaluation led by our Board of Directors. We chose this path, and we chose this partner, because Prisma Health shares our commitment to community-focused, regionally led care. Erlanger will keep its name, its local leadership and its deep roots in Chattanooga.
Nothing changes today for patients, employees or physicians. Together, we will advance healthcare in the Chattanooga region like never before.
