Four Vehicles Destroyed During Truck Fire Wednesday on I-24

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a 46-year-old man from Georgia was the driver of a car hauler that caught fire while traveling through Marion County late Wednesday morning.  The unnamed man was injured during the incident.

A preliminary report indicates the 2005 Freightliner was carrying several cars while traveling west on I-24 near mile marker 166, just east of Old Whiteside Road, near the state line in Tennessee.

Reports indicate that traffic was backed up into Georgia after the crash on Wednesday afternoon. According to Haletown Fire and Rescue, five out of the nine vehicles were saved. Jasper Highlands Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
