Burning Bed Causes Home to be Uninhabitable

Friday night at 10:25, Haletown Fire and Rescue was called to a fire inside a residence on Hwy 41 near Chattanooga. Upon arrival, firefighters found a mattress on fire inside a bedroom. Crews quickly extinguished the mattress, but the bedroom and home were deemed uninhabitable due to smoke and water damage. After overhauling and making sure the house wouldn’t rekindle, the Red Cross was contacted for the occupants.
