Dunlap Man Appears in Court on Assault Charge after Christmas Eve Shooting

A Dunlap man appeared in Sequatchie County General Sessions Court Monday facing an aggravated assault charge tied to a Christmas Eve shooting.

Dunlap Police say James Alvin Stockwell shot a man in the leg following a brief confrontation outside a home and fled. The man that was shot was taken to Erlanger Sequatchie Valley for treatment.

Stockwell appeared before Judge Thomas Austin wearing a hospital gown and had visible injuries. A warrant was issued the night of the incident. Stockwell was arrested and taken to the Sequatchie County Jail.

Stockwell is also facing a separate assault charge involving a female from December 8.
