Semi-Truck and Car Crash on Friday in Dunlap

Emergency crews responded early Friday morning to a crash involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle on Highway 8/111 in Sequatchie County.

According to the Dunlap Fire Department, the call came in at 6:08 a.m. CST on January 9, 2026, reporting a tractor-trailer on its side about one mile north of the Cagle Mountain Trading Post. Officials say the semi and a passenger car collided, causing the truck to overturn, slide off the roadway, and strike a three-phase power pole and several parked vehicles at a nearby residence before coming to rest in the front yard.

While the roadway remained open, electric service was disrupted for multiple residents on the mountain.

Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative responded and temporarily cut power to allow firefighters to safely help the truck driver exit the cab.

Authorities say one person was transported by Puckett EMS with injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department also assisted at the scene.
