A Tracy City resident sustained significant injuries in a fatal accident involving two personal watercrafts on a Tennessee lake Tuesday evening.
The collision occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. near the Tims Ford Bass Club boat ramp.
According to a statement from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), 41-year-old John H. Prater of Tracy City was involved in a collision with another watercraft operated by 41-year-old Christopher W. Bontrager of Missouri. Bontrager was declared deceased at the scene. Prater was transported by ambulance to Highpoint Health in Winchester with serious injuries.
The TWRA reports that this incident represents the twelfth boating-related fatality on Tennessee waterways in 2026.
