J Fred Thomas Ewton, age 76, of Dunlap TN passed away Saturday April 11, 2026. Fred was a member of East Valley Baptist Church. He was a quiet, humble man who enjoyed a variety of hobbies. Fred was a veteran of the United States Army who served his country in the Vietnam war. He worked as a State Trooper for many years and upon his retirement he enjoyed truck driving, and hanging out drinking coffee with his friends at Leon’s Dairy Bar.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents Marshall, and Josephine Barker Ewton; sister Aileen Ewton; and brothers Buck and Norman Ewton.

Fred is survived by his daughter Shelly Ewton (Jeff Dobrinic); sisters Kathy Underwood and June Haman; grandson Zach Wilson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hearth Hospice for their caring and compassionate service to Mr. Fred and his family.

A memorial service for Mr. Fred Ewton will be held Saturday April 18th at 2 PM in the chapel of Ewton Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Bro. Kevin Benoit officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Family will receive friends Saturday from 10 AM- 2 PM..
