Obituaries

Margie C. McWilliams, age 97, born October 27, 1928 and passed away February 5, 2026.

Margie lived a wonderful full life. She was born in Tennessee and grew up on her parent's farm outside of Chattanooga in the town of Whitwell. She graduated high school where she was the captain of her basketball team and then moved to Chattanooga to work. She met the love of her life Joel B. McWilliams in the nearby small town of Dunlap and were married for 56 beautiful years. They decided to move to Miami in 1955 where they would raise their children. She loved sewing clothes for herself and her daughter, Phyllis. They would wear new dresses every week to church and were so proud. A dedicated mother to her son Fred who loved her and took exceptional care of her until she passed. Her love of bowling and crafting filled her years with happiness and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A beautiful soul who now is at peace.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel B. McWilliams; parents, Fred and Marie Condra

She is survived by her children, Robert Fred McWilliams and Phyllis Scarberry, son-in-law, James Scarberry, grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Scarberry, Kristi (Dan) Szymanski, Kelli (Frank) Muniz, Children; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Thacker and Viva Cravens, many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday 1:30 p.m. CST at the Condra Cemetery with burial to follow. Arrangements are by Standefer Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap, TN. The family will receive friends Tuesday 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. CST at the funeral home.
