Obituary For Mary "Magdalene" Higdon

Mary “Magdalene” Higdon, 84, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, soared to see her Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at home.

She worked for the Dixie Freeze for 24 years. She loved to bake and spend time with her children. One of her best traits was to witness to people about her Lord. She always had the biggest smile, one that would light up a room. She always loved unconditionally and everyone knew that her love was sincere. She was a faithful member of Straightway Baptist Church in Bryant, Alabama for over 61 years. She loved her family more than life and was a dedicated mother who sacrificed so much for her children and others. She’ll always be remembered for her kindness and her joyful spirit. She’s surely teaching the angels how to sing. She will forever be missed but never forgotten. Please keep her family in prayer as they navigate this huge loss. Everyone needs a “Magdalene” in their lives.

Magdalene was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Higdon; her parents, Marion Grady and Rosa Adeline Sims Huckabee; brothers, Houston Huckabee, Harold Huckabee, Riley Huckabee, Jerry Huckabee, Merle Dean Huckabee, Thomas Richard Huckabee, Joseph Wayne Huckabee; sisters, Willie Blevins and Mildred Jean Huckabee; and her cat, Baby.
