Sequatchie Sheriff commends jail staff over good inspection

DUNLAP, Tenn. — The Sequatchie County Jail underwent its annual surprise inspection by inspectors from the Tennessee Corrections Institute recently, receiving yet another perfect score with no deficiencies discovered.

This detailed inspection examines the complete facility evaluating 14 different groups and multiple sub categories, covering everything from the physical plant and administration and management to security, sanitation, inmate services and beyond. It is very difficult for a facility to meet all minimal standards, especially in its first inspection for the cycle.

Sheriff Bill Phillips advised he wishes to commend his jail staff from the administration to the newest corrections officer in the facility and all of those in between. “This continued success of perfect marks in these vigorous inspections speaks volumes about the job being performed by all of our staff here at the Sequatchie County Jail. This is just another example of why we have one of very few accredited jails in the state”, the sheriff stated.
Sheriff Phillips received the Inspection Report from Tennessee Corrections Institute Executive Director, William Wall, in which Director Wall stated the sheriff’s office is to be congratulated for attaining this degree of professionalism in its organization.
