City of Whitwell announces plans for Labor Day Parade and Pageant

After an absence of several years, officials with the City of Whitwell have formally-announced plans for a Labor Day Parade this year.

The annual parade, a local favorite that dates back several decades, was missed in 2020 and 2021 due to concerns related to COVID-19. The parade was planned again for 2022, however it was canceled last minute out of safety concerns due to rain on Labor Day morning.

Organizers took to the City’s Facebook Page today to make the announcement.

They say line-up will start near the Landing Zone restaurant on the south end of town, with the parade set to start at 9 AM CDT.

Officials say there will be no activities held or vendors setup at the Whitwell Ballpark this year due to a lack of volunteers, but they are planning to grow this for the 2024 celebration and are already taking sign-ups for next year’s events. The pageant is open to all ages and the cost for entry is $75 and is due by August 31st. For more information on the pageant including complete details and and registration forms CLICK HERE, or contact Paiton Patterson at 423-463-5339 or by email at for more information.

Following the pageant, the there will be a concert at Whitwell High School’s football stadium with fireworks following it at dark.
