On 7/18/23 at 11:47 P.M., the South Pittsburg, TN Fire Department requested mutual aid for a two-story commercial property fire on South Cedar Ave.
South Pittsburg, Kimball Fire, and Stevenson AL departments were on the scene suppressing exposed flames. South Pittsburg and Stevenson Fire used crews in the towers to remove the front fascia of the building to locate and prevent fire spread.
The building is the former home of Sequatchie Concrete. It also served as a Coca-Cola Bottling Company and as the building of First National Bank.
The structure was unique due to it being a building inside a building with double roofs. Teamwork allowed the structure and contents to be saved without injuries. All companies reported in service at approximately 4:15 am on 7/19/2023.
While lighting is assumed to be the cause of the fire, it remains under investigation at this time.
