Prep Football Report for Friday August 18

Kamden Wellington threw for 111 yards and three touchdowns to help lead the South Pittsburg Pirates to a blowout win over Oliver Springs. The Pirates held a 49-0 advantage at halftime before winning 56-0.

South Pittsburg had 429 total yards, and the Bobcats only managed 14 against the outstanding Pirate defense.

Ky’Saun Powell led all rushers with 87 yards, while JaMychal Buckner rushed for 79 and Jamarion Farrior 75.

South Pittsburg will travel to Class 5-A Franklin County on Friday at 7 PM. Hear the game on The River 104.9.


Marion County took control of their matchup with East Ridge as they scored 21 points in the second quarter as they powered past the Pioneers 41-21.

Head Coach Tim Starkey’s offense had 424 yards total yards. Quarterback Tilton Pickett completed 12 of 17 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Brody Leonard added 96 receiving yards and a score.

The Sequatchie County Indians defeated their next-door neighbor, the Bledsoe County Warriors, by a score of 21-7 in Dunlap on Friday night.

Quarterback Sam Evitts was 13-for-19 for 109 yards and a touchdown. The junior also had 47 yards rushing and two more scores.

Sequatchie County travels to East Ridge on Friday, game time 6:30 PM. Hear the game on Country Roads 93.3.

Bledsoe County travels to Cumberland County on Friday.


Whitwell kicked off the season on the road in Huntland on Friday and walked away with a 20-7 win.

Therion Mordecai rushed 12 times for 107 yards, and Bennett McDougal had 18 totes for 103 yards.
