Officer Involved Shooting in Rossville Leaves Suspect Dead and Deputy Injured

On October 8th, 2023, at approximately 6:02 PM ET, Walker County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to meet with a complainant about her brother living at her residence at 4 Bragg Circle, Rossville, GA. The complainant said the suspect was threatening her and would not let her return to the home.

Further investigation by Walker County Sheriff’s deputies determined that the suspect had a felony warrant through Whitfield County, Georgia.

Based upon the active warrant out of Whitfield County, deputies received permission from the complainant, who was the homeowner, to enter the residence. Once inside the home, the suspect closed himself inside a bedroom, and as deputies entered the bedroom, the suspect fired a gun at deputies, and deputies returned fire.

A Walker County Sheriff’s deputy was struck, and the suspect was killed. Sheriff Wilson requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the officer-involved shooting.

The deputy had surgery on Monday morning for non-life-threatening injuries.
