Over the last few months, the Dunlap Police Department has received numerous complaints about several local businesses selling vapor products to children.
Students at area schools are possessing and consuming vapor products in area schools which has become a big issue.
Last week, the Dunlap Police Department conducted an undercover operation on the prohibited sale or distribution of vapor products to persons under 21. The police department utilizes an individual under 21 to attempt to buy the controlled substance from all businesses in Dunlap that sell vapor products. The underage person was able to purchase vapor products at several businesses during the operation. Dunlap Police cited six individuals to City Court for illegally selling and distributing vapor products to underage persons.
The Police Department would also like to recognize the businesses that operated within the law and did NOT sell vapor products to children: Sequatchie Valley Wine and Spirits, Circle K, Exxon, Shell, and the Little Store.
The Dunlap Police Department will continue to perform these operations and attempt to provide a healthier and safer community for the area’s children.
